Ahead Tuition Revision Camp

GCSE Maths Revision Camp

Date: Wednesday 29th May - Friday 31st May

Time: 9.30 am - 12.30 pm

Location: White Hill Centre

Fee: £10.00/hour or £25.00/day

Special Offer: If you are able to recommend a new student to this camp, you are given 10% off your camp fee! If you have a sibling that is attending, you will also be given 10% off.

Chesham CC Fundraising: For any students that joins one of the camps using Chesham CC as a reference, 50% of the student fees will be given back to the club in it's bid to continue building the new clubhouse.

What will be covered: The camp will be an excellent way to consolidate the learning the students have done if in year 11. Year 10 students are also welcome as they will be covering the work currently.

We will be using a lot of exam question papers as we did in the final two days of the last camp. Students will be given practice exam papers and questions to take home and use to revise for their exams.

We have covered a lot of Maths topics before and therefore will be focusing on the most difficult of the topics which will be taught in the simplest of ways to make sure students fully understand what they are learning.

Ahead Tuition is a local tutoring company, run by CCC member Umar Aslam specialising in GCSE and Key Stage 3 Science and Maths tuition. This Easter we are running GCSE and Key Stage 3 Science and Maths revision camps at the White Hill Centre in Chesham.

Key Stage 3 Camps (Year 7, 8 & 9)

Science : Tuesday April 2^nd – Thursday April 4^th

Maths: Monday April 8^th – Wednesday April 10^th

GCSE Camps (Year 10 and 11)

Science : Tuesday April 2^nd – Thursday April 4^th

Maths: Monday April 8^th – Wednesday April 10^th

All camps will be running from 9.30am - 12.30pm

Fees and Location

Camps cost £30.00 a day or £75.00 for all three days. Please make cheques payable to ‘Umar Aslam’.

All our camps will be held at; White Hill Centre, White Hill, Chesham, Bucks, HP5, 1AG

For every student that joins one of the aforementioned camps using 'Chesham Cricket Club' as a reference, Ahead Tuition will give 50% of that student's course fee back to the club!

Unwanted Cricket Kit for Charity

Steve came back from the Thames Valley cricket League with a booklet about organising a collection of unwanted cricket kit and clothing to disadvantaged children in the UK and overseas. It is organised by The Lord’s Taverners and you can read all about it on www.lvsoskitaid.com where the kit goes and who it helps.

I am collecting the following for young people :

I really hope that we can, as a cricket club support this charity, I know that there are many charities at the moment asking us all the time but PLEASE turn out your cupboards before the start of the cricket season and DONATE there are children who cannot play cricket as kit is not available and they just can’t afford it, through this scheme your unwanted kit will get straight to those who need it

Chairman's New Year Message

Dear all,

I hope you had an enjoyable festive period!

As I'm sure you all know, the 2012 season, so often hindered by appalling weather, ended in some style with a long overdue promotion to Division 1 of the Thames Valley League for the 1st XI, a Chess Valley League championship for the Sunday 1st XI, the 2nd & 3rd XIs maintaining their positions in their respective leagues, the 4th XI having their best ever season with an extremely young side and the Sunday 2nd XI completing a full calendar of matches, coupled with a superb social scene.

Not only have we on occasion put out the youngest 1^st XI in Thames Valley league history this summer (18 years 8 months average age) we must mention one of our youngsters who has moved on from the club. Tom Helm was awarded a full Middlesex contract, the result of a massive amount of hard work by Tom and I am sure the whole club will want to congratulate him on his fantastic achievement.

Our juniors, hampered by the rain, are still among the strongest in the South East and our focus on the junior section is being vindicated, with nine of the 1st XI who defeated Bagshot on the final day of the season having come up through the junior system, and six have only ever played for one club! We are also seeing youngsters take responsibility for the running of the club across many areas, something that few other local clubs can boast.

In spite of all of the positivity, I think we can all agree there is a gaping hole in the club currently, and that is the fenced-off remains of our old pavilion. With that in mind, perhaps the greatest Christmas present I received (and not just because one member of the family did all his Christmas shopping in 5 minutes at a Student's Union shop) was the news that building work for the new pavilion will commence on January 7th. This is the culmination of a mammoth effort from our planning and fundraising team, with notably huge contributions from Rod Dowle and Brendan O'Donovan.

I cannot stress enough, however, that the hard work of fund raising must continue. We have had many generous donations from members but will still need to raise about £75,000 to complete the build project in the time frame. This can be done by way of corporate sponsorship, gift aid donations or to organise fundraisers. Otherwise our shortfall will have to be made up by taking out loans, which will limit the club's own use of our own pavilion in the years that follow or a delay in completing the build which will be costly and very damaging for the club as we need a useable pavilion.

Whether you can make a large contribution or small, all donations will make a difference and all get us closer to the finished build. If you have an idea for a fundraiser or you are willing to run one, please let me know and I will offer you all the support I can.

I know I speak for everyone involved in the pavilion redevelopment project when I say that we are personally exhausted and cannot continue for much longer contributing the time and energy we have dedicated to get us to this stage. This pavilion benefits us all and we would really like to see club members come forward and help out.

The timeframe for the pavilion build means that it is likely that it will be completed in mid-July, which as I'm sure you can imagine will make the beginning of the season very stressful for us all. Please make every effort to make the life of the committee, our captains and our ground staff as easy as possible during this period as in the short term life is going to be quite complicated. If we all work together we can all sit by the bar in our new pavilion and laugh about it come the end of the season, knowing we will have secured the future of this great club for many years to come.

All that remains is for me to wish you a Happy New Year, full of Thames Valley League victories and sunny weather!

Weekend Summary - The end of the season!

"Put another one out Ant!" Paddington skipper Anthony Saunders was suitably barracked by his ex-teammates for having 7 fielders on the boundary when Graham Rance hit the ball out the ground!

The curtain came down on the 2012 season with two friendlies this weekend. Typically, after the exuberance of last weekend, we lost both games!

Saturday saw a visit to Marlow Park and a very flat wicket with short boundaries. The toss would be important and we lost it. Marlow Park reached 246-7. Chris Royals took 3-33 in a tough afternoon in the sun. Chesham's reply got off to a good start with a fast 35 from Ed Turner, but once Mark Hughes-D'Aeth was removed for 44 the reply ground to a halt and Chesham were bowled out for 172.

Sunday followed a similar pattern as Paddington won the toss on a very flat wicket and reached 275-4 before declaring. Chesham's reply involved a number of top order batsmen giving their wickets away, before Graham Rance (80) and Jonathan Burden (50) restored respectability and got Chesham towards a draw. It was not to be however and Chesham were all out for 189.

Ollie Turner is looking to get as many people as possible to the TVL dinner. No doubt it will be a good night to celebrate a league victory. Let him know if you're interested.

So that's all folks for 2012. A season that started for me calling the conference from a fairly seedy hotel room in Chicago to get a 1st XI fixture has come to a close with me falling into a bush celebrating promotion. All things considered that constitutes a good year in tough circumstances. There is a good chance that we'll have a pavilion next year and the future is bright. We're back in Division 1 and the focus on youth is being vindicated. Forza Chesham.

Alam Trophy

The 8 a side competition was played on Sunday 9th September and an enjoyable day had by all players & spectators in the sunshine.

The final was played between the Rising Stars Boom Boom team who defeated a side from Milton Keynes and nearly £650 was raised towards club funds.

Thank you to all who attended and donated and look forward to seeing you all again next year.
