There was a mixed bag of results for Chesham, interspersed with yet more rain.
The 1st XI made it three wins in a row as they cruised past Newbury. Against a useful bowling attack, Chesham posted 211-5, courtesy of 78 from Aftab Habib, 55* from Barney Atkins and 46 from Andy Goddard. Newbury's reply never got close as Tom Turner and Matt Rance took 4 wickets each, helped along the way by spectacular diving catches from Barney Atkins and Jason Rance. Newbury were bowled out for 68 off 35.4 overs. The win means Chesham are just 7 points behind top placed Burnham, with Sonning visiting The Meadow on Saturday. Both matches between the teams were abandoned last year. Sonning are tricky customers and have beaten high flying Boyne Hill and Burnham in recent weeks.
The 1st XI 2012
There was disappointment for the 2nd XI as they lost a top of the table clash with Beaconsfield. Mo Asuaf took 6 wickets as Beaconsfield were bowled out for 156, but Chesham's reply faltered and the side were dismissed for 132 despite 67 from Graham Rance. The 2nds have a chance at redemption this week with a visit to another high flying side - Old Merchant Taylors.
The 3rd XI got the better of a low scoring draw against Harefield. David Hughes-D'aeth hit 40 as Chesham were bowled out for 137, and a good all round fielding performance saw Harefield finish on 130-9. Chesham travel to take on Marlow this weekend.
The 4th XI's match was cried off by Windsor.
There were two scheduled matches on Sunday but after a whole lot of running around during the week in which the Friendly XI reached 11 players three times but reached a low of 8 on Saturday evening, before getting back to 10 the next morning, both were rained off!
